Many choose to do the Fátima Route on foot and by bicycle, which is why there are, all over the country, the famous “Caminhos de Fátima”.
Fátima, is a place of extraordinary importance and significance for Catholics, who believe that in 1917, in this small village, Our Lady appeared and spoke, on 6 occasions, with three children - The Apparitions of Fátima.
Since that time, in an act of Faith, millions of pilgrims from all over the world travel to Fatima every year.
One of these paths, by the way very beautiful, is the one that starts in Lisbon. This is the route we propose you to take with us.
Through dirt tracks and secondary roads, surrounded by beautiful landscapes, in the comfort of an electric bicycle, we’ll live a journey of contemplation, peace and spirituality - a unique and wonderful experience.
Tour Description:
This route has about 170 km, mostly covered with dirt roads and secondary roads with very little traffic.
The starting point for this tour is Park of Nations, in Lisbon.
On the first day, we’ll cycle through absolutely wonderful paths, almost all of which are dirt roads. We’ll observe beautiful landscapes, painted with the green of the fields, the blue of the Tagus River waters and brightened by a unique luminosity.
There are about 100 km, almost all covered in flat terrain, so it is not very demanding from a physical point of view, which will allow us to enjoy all the natural beauty of the region, feeling an enormous tranquility and peace.
Among other villages, in this first stage, we will pass through Alhandra, Vila Franca de Xira and Valadas.
The beautiful Santarém city, classified as Portuguese Gothic capital, will also be a must visit place.
We’ll pass by the Serra D’Aires Natural Park and Olhos de Água river beach, which, due to the natural beauty they have, deserve to be highlighted. But the day will be marked by the arrival at the Fátima Sanctuary.
It depends on the motivation and faith of each one, but arriving by bicycle to Fátima is always a mixture of many feelings, a special moment and a lot of emotion.
