CYCLING THROUGH LAOS – FROM LUANG PRABANG TO VANG VIENG
After an unforgettable experience cycling in Thailand, and since we were already on this side of the world, we decided to spend a week exploring Laos by bicycle.

It turned out to be one of the best decisions of the trip.
Laos gave us something completely different — a slower rhythm, a calmer atmosphere and a much deeper connection with the places and people around us.
Here, time seems to move differently. Sometimes it even feels as if it has stopped completely.
Without realizing it, that peaceful atmosphere changed the rhythm of our journey. In Laos we cycled slowly, without pressure, with time to observe every detail and truly enjoy each moment.

Along dusty dirt roads, we passed through small remote villages, far away from everything. We had time to talk with local people, occasionally shared meals with them and watched children leaving school, curiously observing us as we rode by.

At times, local cyclists joined us for a few kilometers, proudly guiding us along the route. Simple, genuine and incredibly kind people.
More than once, it felt like this journey was also a journey back in time.
Luang Prabang – A Timeless City

Our stay in Luang Prabang, where we spent one day and one night, will remain in our memories for a very long time.

The city beautifully blends French colonial architecture with local Buddhist culture. In the evening, we wandered through quiet streets lined with beautifully preserved houses, stepped into charming little shops and stopped for a beer while simply watching the city move at its own gentle pace.
Everything here feels calm and unhurried.
One of the most memorable moments was having dinner at sunset while cruising along the famous Mekong River.

Some experiences stay with you forever: the peaceful silence of the Mekong boat ride, where everything seems to slow down.
From Luang Prabang to Kuang Si, Blue Lagoons and Vang Vieng
Leaving Luang Prabang, we visited the extraordinary Kuang Si Waterfalls — a place nobody should miss.
With multiple turquoise waterfalls surrounded by dense jungle and enormous trees, it feels like a hidden paradise.

Cycling between Luang Prabang and Vang Vieng became much more than just a bike trip.
For days, we rode through dramatic mountain scenery, peaceful villages and endless smiling faces, where every stop felt like an invitation to slow down and simply enjoy the moment.

Closer to Vang Vieng, surrounded by towering limestone cliffs, we stopped at the famous Blue Lagoon — another highlight of Laos. It was the perfect place to relax, swim, eat something good and recharge before the final stage of the ride.

Arrival in Vang Vieng

As we arrived in Vang Vieng, we were welcomed by an unforgettable sunset, filled with dozens of hot air balloons floating above the mountains, creating a truly surreal landscape.

Inspired by that magical atmosphere, we finished the journey with dinner at the Elephant Rooftop Bar, located on the terrace of a hotel overlooking the Nam Song River.

It was the perfect ending to this adventure.
An absolutely unforgettable dinner.
Laos Slowly Draws You In

Laos does not try to impress you.
Instead, it slowly draws you in.
And before you realize it, you are completely captivated by it.
Traveling by bicycle allows you to feel every detail of a place. Maybe that is what makes these journeys so special: it is not only about the destination, but also about the way you arrive there.

And perhaps that same philosophy is naturally reflected in the tours we create in Lisbon and Sintra:
— riding without rushing, discovering places slowly, connecting with people and creating memories that stay with us long after the journey ends.
