Dão Eco Track, in center of Portugal, connects the cities of Viseu, Tondela and Santa Comba Dão and is the result of the excellent use of the old Dão railway line that was deactivated in 1988.
During the approximately 50 km of the route, while cycling, it’s possible to see the Caramulo and Estrela Mountains, beautiful landscapes provided by the Dão River, agricultural fields and forests with wonderful centuries-old trees (cork, olive, chestnut, oak) that offer a special atmosphere throughout this route.
Because it was designed on the old railway, it’s also possible to see many of the old train stations, a steam locomotive and several old carriages.
Along this path, on a flat terrain, with well-kept and well-marked floors, it is possible to visit some villages, in addition to the cities of Santa Comba Dão, Tondela and Viseu.
In Viseu, the historic center, the Cathedral and the Grão Vasco museum are a must-visit site.
The Dão Eco Track, is the longest and also, considered by many, the most beautiful in Portugal.
