If you're wondering what to do in Lisbon in 2 or 3 days, we want to help you make the most of your time.
Portugal may be a relatively small country, but it offers an incredible diversity of cities, landscapes and experiences.
Many people who visit Portugal take the opportunity to explore different parts of the country, but in almost every itinerary, Lisbon is one of the essential stops.
Others simply come to Lisbon for a long weekend — two or three days to discover the city.
In both cases, two questions come up very often:
1 — How many days do I need in Lisbon?

If you have plenty of time, or if your trip is entirely dedicated to Lisbon, we would say that five days is ideal.
But if you don't have that much time, two or three well-planned days are enough to experience the best of Lisbon without constantly rushing from one place to another.
2 — How can I make the most of my time and experience the best of Lisbon in just 2 or 3 days?
That is exactly why we created this post.
Our idea is not to give you another endless tourist checklist of places you "must see". Quite the opposite. We want to suggest an itinerary that, by the end of your stay, leaves you feeling that you experienced everything you hoped for — and much more.
The idea is very simple: one day to discover Lisbon and some of its most iconic places; another to experience something completely different; and, if you have a third day, leave it free to enjoy the city at your own pace.
Day 1 — Discover Lisbon
In our opinion, your first day is the perfect time to get a real overview of the city.
The sooner you understand how Lisbon is laid out, discover its different neighbourhoods and find the places that spark your curiosity, the easier it will be to make the most of the rest of your stay.
One Lisbon, Two Very Different Experiences

If you have limited time and want to see a large part of the city in a single day, an excellent option is a private e-bike tour combining Lisbon's historic centre, the 7 Hills and the historic district of Belém.
The tour is done at a relaxed pace, with plenty of stops to enjoy the monuments, great views and some of the city's most characteristic and picturesque places — with time to take photos, have a coffee or simply enjoy the moment.
During the morning, we explore the historic center, ride through some of Lisbon's most traditional neighbourhoods and reach some of the city's best viewpoints.
E-bikes make Lisbon's famous hills much easier to conquer, allowing you to focus on the views, the stories and the atmosphere of the neighbourhoods rather than the climbs themselves.
Around lunchtime, we stop at a traditional restaurant, where you can relax and discover some of the flavours of Portuguese cuisine.
After lunch, the scenery changes completely.

We follow the Tagus River towards Belém, entering a more open and flatter side of Lisbon, home to some of the city's most iconic monuments and, of course, the famous Pastéis de Belém.

One of the biggest advantages of this experience is that it is private. This allows the tour to be adapted to the pace and interests of each person, family or group.
It is not about ticking places off a list or following a rigid schedule. It is about discovering Lisbon in a relaxed way, accompanied by local guides who know every corner of the city.
Only Have a Few Hours?
We understand that not everyone wants to spend an entire day on a guided bike tour.
In that case, you can simply join one of our groups and choose the experience that best suits you.
Every morning, there are three different tours to choose from: one through Lisbon City Center, another exploring the 7 Hills of Lisbon, and a third following the Tagus River to Belém.
This way, you can discover an important part of the city, get useful tips and recommendations from our local guides, and still have the rest of the day free to do something different.
The important thing is that, by the end of your first day, you will have a much clearer idea of Lisbon — and probably a short list of places you would like to return to later.
Day 2 — Discover Something Completely Different and Live a Unique Adventure

It may sound strange to suggest that someone with only two or three days in Lisbon should do something completely different — let alone spend one of those days outside the city.
But less than an hour from Lisbon, you can reach two magnificent natural parks where the urban landscape gives way to forests, mountains with spectacular views, vineyards, magnificent castles and palaces, small villages, dramatic cliffs and some of Portugal's most beautiful beaches.

That is why we strongly recommend saving one day for one of these adventures — experiences that many of our guests describe as one of the highlights of their trip to Portugal and some even as the best bike tour they have ever done.
If you decide to make one of these adventures part of your stay, we are pretty sure you won't regret it.
Sintra and Cascais — Mountains, Forests and the Atlantic
Sintra is famous for the extraordinary way its magnificent castles and palaces blend into lush, almost magical forests.
There is a reason why it is often described as a real-life fairytale.
And perhaps that is the best way to begin describing this experience.
More than a sightseeing tour, it is a day that awakens the senses and gives you an incredible feeling of freedom as you ride through landscapes and surroundings unlike anywhere else near Lisbon.
It is the option we recommend for those looking for a little more adventure and the chance to experience one of Portugal's most iconic regions in a completely different way.
Arrábida — The Other Side of Lisbon
On the other side of the Tagus River, south of Lisbon and still largely undiscovered by international visitors, you will find a completely different landscape: Arrábida Natural Park.
Its vegetation is very different from Sintra's, and the park is home to one of Europe's rare and best-preserved examples of ancient Mediterranean vegetation.

Dense and, in some places, almost impenetrable, this vegetation is dominated by large shrubs and evergreen plants that keep the landscape intensely green throughout the year.

The result is a spectacular green landscape contrasting with the turquoise-blue, crystal-clear waters of the Atlantic along this part of the coast.
It is precisely this contrast that helps create some of Portugal's most beautiful beaches.
Enjoying wonderful fresh fish by the sea and swimming in these calm, transparent waters is, in itself, an experience that is difficult to forget.
But Arrábida is much more than its beaches.

We ride peacefully along the top of the hills, enjoying incredible views over the Atlantic, before descending into the valleys along quiet country roads that wind their way through vineyards, olive trees and cork oaks.
Along the way, we also stop at a local wine estate for a wine tasting — another highlight of the day and a wonderful opportunity to discover the flavours and traditions of the region.
Sintra and Arrábida offer two very different experiences, and that is exactly what makes the choice so interesting.
If you are looking for majestic forests, mountains and some of Portugal's most iconic scenery, choose Sintra - Cascais E-Bike Tour.
If vineyards, idyllic beaches with calm waters, wine and a destination still well away from the main tourist routes sound more like you, then Arrábida E-Bike Tour and Wine Tasting might be the perfect choice.
Either way, you can join one of our groups and experience a completely different kind of day — one of those days that simply makes you feel how good life can be.
Day 3 — Don't Make Too Many Plans

After two full days of discovery — especially the last one, which may still have you feeling a little on cloud nine — our suggestion for your third day is very simple:
forget the schedule for a while and just do whatever you feel like doing.
Return to a place that caught your attention, visit a museum or monument, do some shopping, head to the beach, enjoy Lisbon's food or simply wander through the city with nowhere particular to go and no reason to look at the clock.
Travelling doesn't have to mean planning every hour in advance.
In Short: Three Days, Three Different Ways to Experience Lisbon
Day 1 — Discover Lisbon.
Explore its neighbourhoods, viewpoints, riverfront and Belém, and get a better understanding of the city where you will be spending the next few days.
Day 2 — Go a Little Further.
Leave the city behind for a while, immerse yourself in nature and let Sintra-Cascais or Arrábida surprise you.
Day 3 — Do Whatever You Feel Like.
Return to the places you loved most, visit a museum or monument, go shopping, head to the beach, enjoy the food or simply let Lisbon surprise you.
Because even when time is limited, travel doesn't have to be a race.
