This is an exploratory tour of the " Santiago de Compostela Portuguese Route".
It will be the first time that we’ll make this journey, for that reason we’ll go with an open mind and pilgrim spirit.
We want to discover and feel the Northern Portugal and Galicia wonderful landscapes, its villages, its culture and gastronomy.
We’ll sleep wherever possible, in hotels, hostels and / or in the famous pilgrim hostels.
During the tour we’ll meet other pilgrims, most certainly very interesting people. We’ll talk to them, share experiences and maybe help each other, pilgrimage is also sharing.
Whoever comes on this tour can choose to start in Porto, only these will receive the Compostela (proof document that is only given to those who do more than 200 km by bicycle), or can join the group in Ponte de Lima.
With the exception of the first stage, which will be optional, between Porto or Vila do Conde (to be defined) and Ponte de Lima, we will do about 50 kilometers per day, for 4 or 5 days, until we reach the destination.
The planned steps are as follows:
Day 1 - May 7 - Porto > Ponte de Lima (70 km);
Day 2 - May 8 - Ponte de Lima – Rubiães > Tui (40 km);
Day 3 - May 9 - Tui > Pontevdra (50 km);
Day 4 - May 10 - Pontevedra > Padron (35 km);
Day 5 - May 11 -Padron > Santiago (30 km).
During the tour we’ll have a support car for anything that may be needed, to transport our luggage between all stages and to bring the bikes back to the point where the tour starts.
This tour will be done with electric bikes. Each one can take their own (if they have one) and those who don't have it can use the rental.
“Discovering the Portuguese Way of Santiago” will certainly be a unique, exciting and enriching experience for all of us.
