After a short tour in the Viseu city center and an excellent lunch, we went cycling to the Dão Eco Track.
It wasn’t the first time that we did this route. We had already done it several times (the last time was in October), but because it’s a great tour, whenever we have the opportunity to cycle here, we don’t hesitate.
This eco track was built in the place where there was an old train line, next to the Dão River, it has a very comfortable pavement and because it’s very well inserted in nature it provides absolutely wonderful landscapes.
During this bike tour, of about 50 km., in addition to the beautiful landscapes, traces of the old train line are visible, such as the old stations, carriages and locomotives.
I usually do this route in reverse and for that reason I haven't visited Santa Comba Dão in a very long time, where this eco-trail ends.
Because this was the place where our tour ended and where we slept, we still had time to visit this city, where Salazar was born, who was Prime Minister of Portugal between 1933 and 1968.
We visited the house where he was born and then we had dinner at another nice restaurant (O Típico), where we ate a delicious cod fish.
On the next 24th and 25th of April we’ll return to Viseu to do this route again. At that time, we’ll bring more bikes, so that you can also participate in this great tour.
